Rural Mental Health Provider Scholarships

Mental Health Program
The National Association for Rural Mental Health
(NARMH) and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher
Education Mental Health Program (WICHE) are pleased to
announce the establishment of the WICHE Rural Mental
Health Provider Scholarship. WICHE will provide
six (6) $500.00 scholarships to rural mental health
providers, working in the public community mental health
system in one of the 15 WICHE states, to provide
financial assistance to attend the 2010 NARMH Annual
Conference in Denver, Colorado (June 2-5, 2010.)
To qualify for a scholarship, the applicant must
demonstrate:
They are a licensed mental health professional
in one of the 15 WICHE member states (
Alaska,
Arizona,
California,
Colorado,
Hawaii,
Idaho,
Montana,
Nevada,
New Mexico,
North Dakota,
Oregon,
South Dakota,
Utah,
Washington and
Wyoming).
Their work is focused primarily upon the
provision of direct client care, and the cost of care is
reimbursed by the state mental health authority and/or
Medicaid program.
They reside and work primarily in a rural or
frontier community, we will use the HRSA listing of
qualified rural counties for its Rural Health Outreach
Grant program for this determination (ftp://ftp.hrsa.gov/ruralhealth/Eligibility2005.pdf)
TO APPLY
- Submit a letter of request outlining your interest in
attending the NARMH Conference, your need for the
scholarship, and the qualifications outlined above.
- Submit a copy of your professional license or
certificate.
- Submit a letter from your agency Director (or
supervisor) affirming your employment in an agency
serving a public mental health system role, and your
ability to attend the conference.
