Jerry is the Executive Director of The Wood Group of Texas.  The Wood Group is a mental health service provider with programs and services located throughout Texas.  He has been with The Wood Group since 1987.  Jerry received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Midwestern State University and his Master of Arts degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  Jerry currently serves on the NAMI State Board of Directors of Texas and served many years on the Board of Directors for the Texas Homeless Network.

NARMH Positions and Projects

Jerry has been a member of NARMH since 1993.  He was elected to the NARMH Board in 2005.  He served on the 2006 Conference Planning Committee for the National NARMH Conference to be held in San Antonio.  Jerry is currently the Membership Chairman for NARMH. 

Rural Mental Health Involvement and Contributions:

Jerry lives in the city of Wichita Falls located in North Texas.  He has been involved in the provision of mental health services for the past 20 years.  He believes in providing quality mental health programs and services that assist mental health consumers with integration into their community with all their rights, priviliges and responsibilities.  The Wood Group operates more than 30 programs located in both rural and urban areas of Texas.  He has developed programs that provide services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness in a culturally and linguistic setting.  The Wood Group provides crisis hotline services, crisis screening and assessment services and psychosocial rehabilitation services.  They have developed residential programs that are treatment oriented and transitional in nature.  The desired outcome is to allow the consumer to live in the least restrictive environment.  Jerry continues to develop new and innovative programs that provide services to the mental health community of Texas.
