Helene is currently medical director of the rural outreach program at
the University of New Mexico School of Medicine Department of
Psychiatry.
NARMH Positions
Helene joined the NARMH Board of Directors in 2005. She was on the
planning committee for the 2002 national NARMH meeting in Santa Fe, New
Mexico.
Rural Mental Health Involvement and Contributions
Helene has set up training programs for psychiatric residents in
rural and underserved communities around the state of New Mexico. She is
also part of a team that consults around the state to provide assistance
for people with developmental disabilities and their providers.. She has
been involved in research in interdisciplinary training, integrating
primary care and behavioral health, cultural competence, and the use
oftelehealth in training and practice
